Architecture Caribbean: What are the trends and innovations you have seen in lately that has made an impact on you?
Daigo Ishii:
Indian Architecture even if it exists over about 1000 to 2000 years. It seems to me that Indian Architecture, specially the architecture of Jainism, may be the architecture of the most abstract and pure methodology in the world. The architecture of Khajuraho may be an interesting example that the methodology of composition and the methodology of the surface overlap. I yet have no opportunity to see those. Contemporary Art. The arts that I prefer are no type in consideration with harmony with environment but the type with critic for the social problem. The critic for the social problem is privileges of the contemporary art. It is a field that the architecture cannot foray. Contemporary art in India and China is interesting is because, in both countries, the problems are clear, simple, authentic, easy to understand in the history of the world.
The exhibition of Japanese Contemporary Art ‘Neoteny Japan’ opened in Tokyo. It included Takashi Murakami or Yoshitomo Nara who receives the attention globally are the arts that have together the character of the infant and the adult as if those had symbolized instability and fragility in the mature society of Japan. The personally recommended artists in the collection were Tomoko Konoike, Shohei Nawa, Yayoi deki, Syoken Teruya and Yoshitomo Nara. Apart from those, I like Marina Abramovic. Her art challenges to express by changing the mental pain in the physical pain.
Mathematics. Mr. Hiroshi Hara talked about contemporary mathematics. He tried to apply one of the current concept ‘retract’ to the architecture. This concept described as a logical mathematical formula the spatial state that is seen vague even if it is too advanced for me to understand.

Estancia in Argentina. In Argentina, many latifundist farms that the descendants of the founder of colonial time managed remain. There are many  residences that were constructed by the immense sum of money and were realized as a mansion architecture with splendid style. There are mansions like a Castle in Roir or a Tudorbethan house with authenticity. The local were hardly reflected to those though those are in the nature with different character from Europe and those were also not developed according to the influence of Latin America.

AC: Thanks for the interview, any final thoughts?
DI:
