




Caribbean Urbanism
Caribbean Architecture comes under the umbrella of Tropical architecture. The main aspects of Caribbean architecture (Tropical Architecture) are:
* The architectural expression responding to the needs of a Caribbean (tropical) climate
* Architecture that is sensitive to the social, cultural and climatic requirements.
* The use of available materials and methods of construction.
The history of the Caribbean islands all include control by Europeans, primarily the Spanish, French, English, and Dutch. It also consists of African slaves, indentured labourers from India, and their descendants, all of whom contributed, to the development and beauty of Caribbean Architecture. The Caribbean region consists of the chain of islands surrounding the Caribbean Sea.
